Special Project: The Red Queen's Throne
My special project for Alice in Wonderland was the Red Queen's throne. I recieved a sketch from the scenic designer, and I drafted the construction drawing. I was responsible for the wood carpentry. painting and dressing of the throne, for which I collaborated with the costume designer so the throne would work as an extension of her costume.
Additionally, the Red Queen made her entrance by flying in from above on the throne, so I collaborated with the technical director on the rigging required to load the actress in the throne offstage, raise her up, move her over, and lower her in onstage. She exited the stage in the reverse.
